Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born

Children's Book Review

Topic: Adoption

Jamie Lee Curtis got it right with this one!  Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born is an awesome book but not for "just another book before bed" kind of book. It's about adoption which isn't very clear when looking at the cover. This sweet story is about a young girl who wants her parents to re-tell her about the night she was born and the journey that they went through to pick her up and get her from her birth mother.

This book is highly recommended for parents with adopted children, teachers who are working on a curriculum study of families and how they are different {especially if there is an adopted student in the classroom} or for families to use as a tool to explain how another friend/family member is adopted.

Nurture Shock

Book Review

Topic: wide-range education/parenting

What an eye opening book! This research based book was given to me by a New York City parent of a child that I currently work with. This awesome mom raved about the book and ended up giving it to me for my birthday. Each page is more interesting than the next and after looking up some of the studies, thinking that it was all a ruse, I finally stopped and just enjoyed all the information at my finger tips. Nurture Shock is full of eye opening studies that were so simple yet so revealing. Let's just say if you are a parent, child care giver, educator, or just a person who wants to learn more about children then you HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK.
